Lake Victoria:
Lake Victoria is the largest fresh water lake in Africa and the second largest in the world. It is shared between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. The surface area is some 68 000 km2 and the shoreline length 3 400 km. The lake empties into the River Nile and is estimated to provide a living for 50,000–70, 000 fishermen with Kenyan fishermen alone numbering about 20 000. In Kenya it is estimated that the present monthly Nile Perch catch is 8 000 tonnes.
